TVRI is the first television station in Indonesia, which airs on August 24, 1962. The inaugural broadcast airing Ceremony of Indonesian Independence Day 17th of the State Palace in Jakarta. This broadcast is still in the form of black and white.
Formerly TVRI ever serve ads in a particular impression that the title of the show Where Love Broadcast Commerce (twice a day). Since April 1981 until the late '90s TVRI not allowed to serve ads, and eventually returned to serve ads TVRI. TVRI status currently is Public Broadcasting. Most TVRI operational costs are still borne by the state.
